La Ferme Du Soleil
Location and travel
The map shows you where we are, more or less in the centre of a triangle with Geneva, Annecy and Chamonix at the apexes.:
For instructions for getting to the house click here but do, in winter, make sure that you arrive in time to get up the hill and leave the house early. And let us know what you have arranged with whom.
You can get a taxi to the house (or nearby in winter). There are several possibilities:
1. Taxis to and from Geneva or Annecy can be ordered from Allo Taxi 74. Check on their prices but for up to 4 people from Geneva Airport, they charge (2010) €130 (€180 at night ie after 6 pm or on Sundays) with small extra charges per person up to €180 (€220 at night or Sundays) for 8 people. They will collect you from the Swiss side of the airport and drop you off at the ski hire shop where you can get skis and then take the lift for La Ferme du Soleil. Or they can take you to the skidoo pick up point if we have arranged to meet you there to take your bags away from you before you ski off on your own skis or walk the last bit up the hill to the house. Let us know what arrangements you make with them.
2. Taxis to and from Geneva or Annecy can also be ordered from some nearby English-speaking people who run Aravis Transfers from St Jean de Sixt. They are helpful, will charge € 140 for up to 4 people and €165 for 5-8 people if you arrive in Geneva before 1400 on a Sunday and may be cheaper on occasion if you do not mind sharing with other people. To have this offer select the Ferme de Soleil referral link from the “where hear” section of the booking form and they will apply the special price to your booking. The same thing applies, let us know what arrangements you make with them.
If you want to hire a car, don’t forget to look at hiring from the French side of Geneva airport, it is usually cheaper than the Swiss side.
If you come by rail, Annecy is relatively convenient. You can rent a car, or take a taxi or Crolard’s Number 62 bus to Grand Bornand (it takes about an hour) from there.
You can also travel by bus from Geneva in the skiing season but watch out, the buses only go on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
