The Writers’ Retreat

The Writers’ Retreat is the most idyllic hideaway, on the ground floor of La Ferme du Soleil. It has a terrace opening onto a lawn with access to the swimming pool, down some steps to the terrace below. Surrounded by alpages full of wild flowers and cows with bells, it is the perfect retreat for anyone wanting to escape to “les vrais montagnes”. It has magnificent views of the valley below.

Writers, artists, couples of all ages or families will find everything they need here to enjoy the mountains. It is simple but comfortable.

It consists of a main studio room with a traditional mountain bed and a kitchen/dining area, opening through French windows to the terrace. Leading off it, there is a bathroom with bath, shower and loo. A cosy sitting room opens onto the terrace through another French window. Next to it, there is a bunkroom and another bathroom with loo.

The kitchen has a four burner gas stove, oven, kettle and fridge as well as saucepans, plates and cutlery.

We will welcome you after 4 pm on arrival day and if you would like us to make you up a basket of local produce from the mountain for you arrival we can offer you any of the following:

The local Reblochon or Abondance cheese from our neighbouring farm

Fresh butter

Local eggs

Fresh bread

Myrtille berries from the pastures

Local jambon fumé

Honey from the mountain

Local red or white wine

Fresh salad.

You are welcome to stay until 10:30 am on your last day.

We prefer weekly rentals – it is £600 per week for a single person or couple and £100 per child.  Normally, this will start on a Saturday.
